Tokyo Street Fashion
and Race as Style
We all know that race play an important part in our society. We just don’t know how much it effect the popular culture of today. It is often viewed as Africa American and Caucasians in opposite spectrums of life. The Japanese have taken what you would call the best of both worlds. It hope of finding a place in this racial society, pop culture has found its own category in its own way.
Looking back in history we can see that the Japanese struggle to find its own racial identity. Taking on the western culture of the Caucasians of what is attractive and what is seen as acceptable to the world. Superiority seem to be the turning point of the Japanese advances toward racial acceptance. From the black and white minstrel show set back in the 1850s.
In modern times, pop culture often set the trend of what is accepted in society. While finding a racial identity, Japanese pop culture has achieved what is now Kogyaru. This could be identified as a mix of multiple cultures. This its self is the Japanese identity to its own fashion in its young pop culture of today.

Weekly Written Analysis 5
Nowadays people are coming up with different shows; reality shows about them, looking for love like I love New York, Rock of love, I love daisy and bromance all these shows are found in VH1 television. One thing that these shows have in common is drama; from the beginning of the show up to the end is nothing but drama and thus the reason why people like me ends up watching the whole show because they create the curiosity which makes people wants to know what is going to happen next.
Dance your ass off is the show found in oxygen television, the show is very different from the others because first it is made for over weight people who wants to lose it, second getting into shape and third be healthy. The competitors in this show are competing who is losing more weight every week and who is flexible every week during dancing. The one who is going to be at the bottom will be sent home.
The show provide personal trainer for each competitor, healthy food, food to cheat like chocolate for those who like it, cadies, donates and other unhealthy meals, a doctor and professional dancer for each person. The reason for them to put the chocolate, candies and other unhealthy meal is to see how the competitor will behave when they see what they like also how they are going to overcome their desires after the competition.
The world we are living today is full of overweight people; therefore if such kind of shows were many of them, people will be healthy not only from the overweight but from other diseases like diabetes, cardiac diseases and other diseases which are coursed by overweight, Lets fight against obesity.

Weekly Written Analysis 4
America has this obsession with reality. Shows like Crime 360 and Gangland from The History Channel gives a reality into the cruel world of violence and crime solving. Life is all about what you can catch on camera. From seeing what life is like for real people on an everyday basis. I enjoy seeing criminals brought to justice. Not always in movie and on drama shows. Everyday we step outside our door we see things that is not unusual to the normal person. We drive down a city street and the police driving right pass us with red and blue lights flashing and most of us wonder where it is going. Is there a bad accident or a crime in progress? I like shows that show me what I can’t see. Life change dramatically for people everyday, but we never see it unless we are in it, which does always turn out for the best. It’s good to see reality from the comfort of me home.
Reality is not always bad, some can be quite funny. World Dumbest on TRU TV is one show with variety. This show can range from dumb criminals to people trying to get out of trouble. It’s amazing to see natural human action to any situation. You never know what you would really do when the time comes for you to overcome an event in your life. World Dumbest show where people do some of the most brainless things and get the most reality check they ever got it their lives.
TRU TV is a channel based on the fact “not reality, its actuality.” This is where you find the love for the things that happen for people it real life situations. From a senseless crime to the normal everyday traffic stop gone wrong. Step by step on how a crime is committed or solved can be seen at almost anytime. Just to see something real unfold right in front of you is exciting. To dedicate one channel to this genre of people shows how much society love to see strange people in unfamiliar situation get out of control in one heartbeat.
Society love trouble, but just don’t want to have anything to do with it. That is the American way! To be able to sit back and enjoy the misery of others. The world wants to see the dark side of its self, no matter what. No more stories about rich people living the good life, we can see real people living a normal life. Remember one thing, “normal” is different for everybody.

Weekly Written Analysis 3
Student exchange program is very common in the world of education today. Me been one of them, am here in America through the same program. Many people like to come to America from all over the world because it’s known to have a better education. Nowadays technology plays a bigger part of enrolment and find student all over. As it is known for this program student need to have a family where they are going to live with and help them as student and as foreigners. But for other student have been a nightmare for them. The program promise them families or places where they are going to live but in stead they where taken to places where they live with drug dialers, families which they don’t care about them, they don’t give them food or transport to school as the program says. One of the students is from my country Tanzania, he was found fainted due to hunger, he said he went for days with no food. The other student said she been sleeping on the floor where the dog pups is allover and remember this student parents pays a lot of money for school and for the program too. People need to understand that this people are children like any other children so they need to be treated as the program suggests. Also this should be a lesson to other people that before you go or send your child any where you should have full information about it and it would be good if the parent pay a visit too for the safety of the child.

What is popular culture?
Popular culture refers to any act, practice, way of interaction and orientation, and certain tendencies (normally dressing styles, or eating habits) that define people’s life at a particular point in time, mostly in relation to advancements and significant changes that characterize that particular point of time. This can be spread via television, music, books, movies and other communication means.
What does it mean to you?
To me, popular culture is something that attracts people’s attention and they make it part of their daily interaction with others. For example, Sarah Palin’s spectacles design became very popular and highly demanded after she was announced to be a running mate of John McCain for the U.S presidency. Many women in the twenties and thirties were attracted to her spectacles, a thing that made them to go out and get exactly the same kind of specs, thus making it a pop culture.
Why is an understanding of popular culture relevant to you in a business environment and in your present and future career?
Popular culture plays a big part in business environment because in order for a business to successfully market itself to consumers, it has to take into account the current pop culture, which may influence consumer behavior, and base their advertising around it.
What would you consider to be an example of popular culture artifact?
Elmo from Sesame Street would be considered as an example of a pop culture artifact among children. Many kids watch Elmo, and enjoy the educational story that is passed over. For example, Count It Higher is one of Elmo’s great stories which have enabled lots of kids to know how to count. Elmo has become very popular in kids’ lives because of the educational plays it gives, a thing that makes many parents to get their kids to watch it. So, to me Elmo will be a good example of a pop culture even other people especial Christian or who don’t believe on homosexuality consider miss California as a good rorel model for children too.

Weekly Written Analysis 2
Today the Television shows, Runs House, Kymora in the House of Fabullane, Jon and Kate plus 8, Torri and dean home sweet Hollywood and many others are full of people’s life style, how they are living, what they do for fun and how they do to earn their living. People call them reality shows but not everything they show is true and on top of that they don’t even show everything they do in life as the name of the show suggests.
Forensic files, women behind bars, investigation and lock up are my favorite’s shows; they not only reality but they are actual things happened to people and can happen to anybody in the future. These shows educate people on how to escape from been lock up, from bad people or from committing any crime. I watch forensic files almost every night from True television, the aim of the show is to show people that there is no way a person can get away from madder, from rapping or from suicide or homicide. Besides finding out crime since and the guilty people it also teach people how to act when such a bad thing happens to them or how to get the suspect. Forensic files based on scientific actions from the people who are specialized for that job therefore there is no way someone can escape from the crime he or she did.
Women behind bars its are show on WE television which the women who are locked up telling their stories what happen to them till are in jail. If you watch most of the cases women have been killing their husbands, friends, children or parents because of money, drugs, accidental but the highest case is women killing their fathers and husbands because of been rapped by them, beaten by them or they did anything bad to them to make them do what they didn’t want to do. I can’t say they are innocent because they were driven by their emotions neither can I say they are guilty because they are already in jail. These shows always make me feel so sad as a woman but at the end of the day I need to learn from them on how to control my emotions and what to do if such thing happens to me. All these shows mean a lot to me and to other people who watching them too because they are so educative and they show people what is reality means, that anything can happen and your life can change from that moment.

Icon Analysis
There are so many people in this world to look at and consider them as my icon, but for these three women, Oprah, Michelle Obama and Tyra Banks what they went through in life ( not all) and who they are today they really took my heart thus why I consider them as my icon
Oprah wasn’t born in a rich family neither did she brought up in wealthy family; instead she went through hell as she become a strong, rich black woman. As we see today many women have money but they end up using them to buy drug to spoil their bodies, making their body to look young or just to use for unnecessary staff. When it comes to Oprah she always help people not only in America but all over the world and thus the reason why she still receive more because she gets more blessing from people. For what Oprah is doing to this world especial the children, makes me to call her my icon
Michelle Obama is one of the million wives of president who can talk on behalf of their husbands. First she is beautiful, intelligent black woman and whenever she speaks she speak some sense. She is a helpful woman and on top of that she helps her husband too on his work. I always see like America has two president which is Obama and his wife and that the reason why I call her my icon.
Despite of the discouragement from people around her she still manage to come up with her own talk show, helping young beautiful ladies to reach their dream land. Tyra banks she is one of the beautiful woman whom people believe she can be the next Oprah, first she is a model, and second she is a hard working woman and third she charming person who is rich and she is read to help other ladies all over the world to be like her. For that she made me to consider her as my econ.
